Our first ever prom fashion show!!

It's been a busy month for us as the prom season begins, with so many schools having now confirmed a date for the student's chance to celebrate and dress up!  We stumbled across the idea of prom events in 2020, when so many parents who had bought dresses were left frustrated when proms were cancelled due to Covid. Lots of money wasted and dresses sitting unused in wardrobes.

So Conscious Closet decided to act! We organised a pop up shop and encouraged owners to bring in their pre-loved - some unworn and still with tags - that we could promote and help sell on! We then added new selected styles to sell, and offered rental options to ensure a more circular and less wasteful prom event.

It was important to us to make sure our clients had a good dress offering with reasonable prices, and a modern selection of both new and pre-loved dresses. Since then we have done a few occasion pop-up shops - always good to brighten the spirits!

So as proms are now back on the agenda, we decided to have our first prom dress fashion show. Even though we were both injured that evening due to separate accidents (!) we survived the event and had a great time.

Perfectly situated at the iconic @oldtheatredeli in our very own market town of Southwell Nottingham, over sixty mothers and daughters joined us for a relaxed evening of all thing's prom. Our aim was to support, advise, and take the stress out of the search for the mums – and it seems everyone enjoyed the event!

We used local businesses and friends to help with hair, makeup and general all-round support. Thank you to @emily_galligan13 makeup artist who did a great job on our models and took appointments for prom packages. Julie and her team @studiolingerieandresort who discussed what lingerie the girls may want to consider with their dresses, and offered free fittings on the night. And mates we turned to for help on hair (Lily and Hayley) and door welcome (Jo) - always grateful!

Our models Chloe, Summer, Nancy, Ella and Abbie were amazing! Never having modelled before but confidently showcasing a selection of our beautiful dresses.

Guests arrived to a welcome drink and goody bag, then enjoyed a fashion show and the chance to browse the whole range to decide which styles they loved.  A lucky guest also won the evenings raffle prize - treats and more treats plus vouchers and a tiny bottle of fantastic fizz (of course).

The whole evening was captured by photographer @InnyPhotography who’s great style added a perfect vintage feel. Below are guests checking dresses they could wear, plus an exhausted Conscious Closet team who managed to survive the evening!

We are now taking private appointments for dress fittings so if you or anyone you know is needing a dress, then please contact us. We have lots of prom dresses but also dresses for the adults who are attending a Summer event? We can accommodate friends or parents and daughters in our fab pop-up shop in Southwell - easy to park and always a lovely market town to grab a coffee or stroll the boutiques.

Until the next event….

Sarah and Lisa xx
