A Conscious July!
So what have we been up to this month?.....
After a busy prom dress pop-up month during June, we were excited to keep doing our events in July. It was great to finally be able to organise small events and meet customers face-to-face once again. Our local community always support us and we have such a good time catching up with everyone and meeting new people.

Southwell Swishing….
It was finally our seasonal Southwell Swishing clothes swap party on July 23rd - end of school and time for ladies to enjoy themselves! Our last one was cancelled way back in March 2020 as lockdown was announced so we were definitely ready to Swish.
The evening was a great success – in a smaller studio it meant we had to limit tickets – but as the weather behaved itself, we were able to chat outside in the lovely courtyard area and then use the studio for the clothes swapping. Clothes swapping is a great way of saving clothing waste and helping the environment fight back against destructive landfill. Every little bit of help counts.
It's so simple - bring along clothes you no longer wear and swap with those brought by others. We were also happy to include some pre-loved pieces that had never been worn! Our Conscious Community brought their clothes that still had tags on and chose a price to sell. These went down well with some beautiful pieces.

Kindly Tamara kept The Barn store open later so she could offer coffees and cakes and give our attendees the chance to peruse her beautiful homeware. We obviously offered the stronger stuff – a glass (or several) of fizz as we chatted and discussed the reasons for our business and why we were encouraging clothes swapping and what fun it can be.
We were so impressed our lovely ladies listened attentively as they itched to get in the studio and choose a new wardrobe! But it is a message of importance as we discourage clothing waste and encourage a sense of community to support social and environmental issues - whilst saving money on a great new selection of clothing. And then some tips on wardrobe management. What's not to love!

Local gift fair….
The day after our Southwell Swishing we were invited to show our brand products at the local Woodborough Summer Fair – a busy event dodging the rain and winds with over 60 stalls, great crowds and live singing. If we had recorded us trying to put up our marquee in the winds it would definitely have earnt us a feature on You’ve Been Framed! Here we are setting up our table of gifts with some beautiful Conscious Closet ladieswear pieces as an extra treat! We had a successful few hours and sold one of our ladies blouses to the talented @sarah_carlin_singer who performed at the event. We also met some great small business owners including our neighbours @amor_reeds, who produce handmade bespoke reed diffusers locally in Nottingham. Definitely two women we hope to see at other fairs soon!
So what’s next?
We are already planning a larger clothes swap event in Autumn now that restrictions are relaxed. So start saving those unwanted items, including any unworn items that you wish to sell.
We are also starting to get busy with private appointments from the end of August - organising our clients wardrobes and saving them time, hassle, and outfit traumas! After our summer break we will start working on the next stage of our website - hopefully in place by the end of this year.
